A few months ago, I signed up to a fun, online community called Influenster. If you haven’t heard of this site before, I urge you to check it out! Covering products that range from your favourite lipstick, to dog toys, Influenster is all about reviewing products that you love in a fun and social way, while earning quirky badges and building your social impact score. The community is also a great place to get feedback on products you have yet to buy, but want to know more about. On a monthly basis, Influenster sends out magical little boxes they call VoxBoxes. Every box has a theme according to what type of products are inside, like the box I received, which featured L’Oreal’s new Hydra-Total 5 skincare line.
L’Oreal has introduced their new Hydra-Total 5 line for 3 different skin types: uneven skin, sensitive skin, and combination skin. I was thrilled to see that I had received the products for combination skin, as this is exactly my skin type and knew that I would see the most benefits from this category. Said to “revitalize and refresh for silky smooth, toned skin”, I was excited to get started and see the results!
Hydra-Total 5 Ultra-Fresh Routine: Cleanser
I have never been a fan of strong smelling facial products (who wants their face smelling like a floral shop all day?) and was so pleased to discover this cleanser had a very light, rosewater-esque scent. After using this cleanser, my skin was left feeling soft and hydrated, unlike some other cleansers that leave my skin feeling tight and stripped of its natural oils. I love that even if I am in a rush and forget to apply a moisturizer, this cleanser leaves my skin feeling great!
How I use it: As soon as I opened my VoxBox, I popped this cleanser into my shower so that it would always be in arms reach during my morning routine. Before I get out of the shower, I massage the cleanser into my face, neck, and decollette in upward, circular motions, then rinse. This cleanser lathers up easily, so you will only need to use about a dime-sized amount for a good clean.
Hydra-Total 5 Ultra-Fresh Routine: Toner
This toner had the same lovely light scent that the cleanser did. It glides on easily, and leaves my skin feeling super refreshed.
How I use it: I use this toner every morning on my face, neck, and decollette, after I’ve cleansed my skin. Once it’s on a cotton pad (just a quick squirt will do), I gently swipe it across my skin in an upward motion. This toner is also great to use before you go to bed as a quick way to remove all of the gunk and oils that have accumulated throughout the day.
Hydra-Total 5 Ultra-Fresh Cream-Gel Moisturizer
This was the first time I have ever used a gel based moisturizer, and I’m completely hooked! It is much lighter than your standard cream moisturizer, and it absorbs into your skin much faster, preventing my skin from feeling weighed down like some thicker moisturizers tend to do.
How I use it: After you have cleansed and toned your skin, it’s time for your moisturizer! I used a Q-Tip to remove a small, pea-sized amount, and then dabbed it on various places on my face, neck, and decollette, before massaging it into my skin. I find that if I apply it this way, rather than massaging it into my hands first, I used less product. With moisturizing creams being one of the most expensive items in your skincare routine, every little bit counts!
I’ve been using this skincare line for about a month now, and can honestly say that I am completely impressed with the results. My skin feels soft and moisturized at all times, even during these cold winter days. Gone are any traces of flaky skin, and I’ve noticed an overall improvement in my skin’s smoothness.
