GOLDEN GLOBE STYLE: RED CARPET BEAUTY

With the post-Golden Globe week coming to an end, it’s time to share the last installment in my red carpet inspired looks, and this is one is a bit of a change from my previous fashion looks.

I’ve invited Toronto based makeup artist, Alyssa Antonio (owner of Makeup By Aye) to share her favourite beauty look, along with the products you’ll need to recreate the look yourself!
“I loved Jenna’s look! Her soft pink lip colour and smokey blue eyes are right on trend with Pantone’s Colours Of The Year. This is a great look for someone who wants their makeup to make an impact without overdoing it – perfect for a night out on the town!”

73rd Annual Golden Globe Awards - Arrivals

For the face: You’ll want to go with products that leave you with a dewy, sheer finish. I recommend NARS Sheer Glow Foundation, along with Chanel’s Vitalumiere Satin Smoothing Fluid Makeup, and Bobbi Brown’s Creamy Concealer Kit as the base. For effortless golden contours, I love Benefit’s Sun Beam and Benefit’s Hoola Matte Bronzer. Finish off the face with naturally flushed cheeks by using Makeup For Ever’s HD Blush in Nip Slip.

For the lips: NARS Lip Gloss in Orgasm will give you a perfectly pink pout.

For the eyes: For a night where you’ll want your makeup to last, I always start with an eyelid primer like Laura Mercier’s Eye Basics. To create this smokey look, I would use MAC Eyeshadow in Saddle for the crease, Chanel Soft Touch Eyeshadow in Ebony for the outer corners, MAC Eyeshadow in Mystical Mist to blend from the lids to the outer corners of the eye, and MAC Eyeshadow in Shroom for the inner corners of the eye. To finish your dramatic look, false eyelashes and a few swipes of mascara are a must! I love Benefit’s They’re Real mascara.

For the brows: With the smokiness and drama of your eyes, you’ll want to keep your brows looking clean and natural. To add definition, I  recommend Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow in Dark Brown. To keep your brows in check, Anastasia Beverly Hills Clear Brow Gel will do the trick!

Have you tried any of the above products listed? If so, which ones do you love? Let me know in the comments!

Thanks to Alyssa for sharing her favourite Golden Globe beauty look with us. I hope you’ve enjoyed all the looks this week, and can’t wait to see how you incorporate them into your daily style.

GOLDEN GLOBE STYLE: SEQUINS

There were so many trends that I love on this year’s Golden Globe red carpet, that I simply couldn’t share just one. Earlier this week, I put together a daytime looked based on Jennifer Lopez’s stunning mustard-coloured gown. I’m switching gears for today’s inspiration and have put together a fun evening look with a little glitz and glam.

Sequins were sparkling under the flashbulbs of the press as star after star made their grand entrance. From to Olivia Wilde to Kate Hudson, the ladies of the red carpet knew how to shine. I was particularly drawn to the deep, midnight blue number that Julianne Moore wore, and have based this glittery ensemble off of her. It’s the perfect look for a night on the town!

IPSY’S DECEMBER GLAM BAG

This month’s Glam Bag was all about love from the Ipsy team. Along with a cute thank you note, this red, quilted bag was filled with some fabulous goodies, and sealed with a kiss…zipper pull.

Below you’ll find all of this month’s products along with my reviews. Did you receive a December Glam Bag? Be sure to leave me a comment and let me know what your favourite product was!

Jesse’s Girl Nail Polish in Pin-Up Girl
This is the second Jessie’s Girl product that I’ve received in my Ipsy bags (the last was an eye shadow primer that you can see here). I was a big fan of the primer, so I was excited to see their name on another on of my goodies. This is quickly becoming one of my favourite polishes – it’s super shiny, and this shade of pink will look good on anyone! I’ve had it on for about a week now, with very minimal chips (score!),

Pacifica Power Of Love Lipstick in Nudie Red
Not only does this lipstick slide over your lips like a dream, this little tube packs a powerful message. With the idea that lipstick can change the world, for every lipstick purchased, Pacifica will give one to a woman in need.

Peony Cosmetics Shadow Trio
I was hoping this month’s bag would yield something sparkly for the holidays, and this shadow trio definitely delivered! The bronze shade adds the perfect touch of glimmer, and the kaolin clay helps absorb excess oils, so your party look will last all night long…dancing and all.

Lather Honey Moisture Mask
Truth be told, I have yet to use this mask. After indulging in treats over the holidays, my skin has been breaking out. When that happens, I go for something with astringent properties. But I’m excited to have this mask in my arsenal for when the cold winter weather starts to dry out my skin. I’m sure it will work wonders! Have you tried this mask yet? Let me know if you liked it!

Klorane Floral Water Makeup Remover
I can always use more eye makeup remover – it’s one of the products I use in my daily cleansing routine, so I go through it very quickly. I swapped this product for my regular version, and was pleasantly surprised. It wasn’t greasy and it removed my mascara with ease. I’ll be using this one until it’s all gone!
